Channel 22

As of September 16, 2008, Cablevision's public, educational, government access and local programming channels will be transmitted only in digital format.  As a result of this change, a digital cable ready television (equipped with a QAM tuner), a digital cable box or a CableCARD will be required to receive  public, educational, government access and local programming channels.  Cablevision has advised the Town of Shelter Island that they are committed to ensuring that customers who receive their analog-only service can continue to view public, educational, government access and local programming channels by obtaining the required equipment at no additional cost.  Please contact Cablevision for additional information concerning this matter
Cablevision’s Education and Government Access Channel for the Town of Shelter Island, Channel 22, has gone digital. But can you watch Town Board meetings and other Channel 22 programming without buying into a full Cablevision digital package?
Yes. Channel 22’s MaryEllen McGayhey said that all Cablevision customers should fall under one of the three categories below and can access the broadcast as described:
1. Are you already a Cablevision Optimum digital package subscriber? If so, you are fully equipped with a digital cable box and Channel 22 is part of the Optimum channel line-up.

2. If you are not a Cablevision Optimum subscriber (i.e., you have no digital cable box) and your television has no built-in digital receiver or tuner, Cablevision will provide you with a modified digital box that receives only the digital format for public access channels, called PEG. The PEG-only digital box will allow your analog TV to receive Channels 20 and 22 and is available free of charge with no expiration date.

3. Do you own a television with a Quam built-in digital tuner but have no digital cable box? Using the remote that comes with the TV, reprogram your television by entering a frequency code of 99-7914 for Channel 22 and 99-7913 for Channel 20. You may alternatively request the free PEG digital box from Cablevision.
