 Shelter Island Residents and Visitors: As you may be aware, LIPA is working on a much-needed $9 million cable project to install a new power supply line from Southold (Conkling Point) to Shelter Island (Crescent Beach.) Please be aware that the majority of this work will be done on Shelter Island, and will create significant noise in the Crescent Beach area. Drilling will take place 7 days a week, 12 hours a day from 7 am to 7 pm for the next six weeks. Your patience and understanding during this time are greatly appreciated We have developed this website to provide you with important information about Town government - - which will enable you to become a more informed citizen. We have also included a Community Calendar--let us know if your group is planning a community event.
A recent addition to this website is our town's homeowner handbook. I believe that you will find this to be a useful and informative guide to living on our special island. You will find minutes of the various appointed boards such as the Planning Board, and the Zoning Board of Appeals. There's a directory of all elected officials, department heads, committee members. We are also very pleased to provide you with a special feature - - the entire Shelter Island Town Code - - at no cost and user friendly. Our site also has useful links to other web sites for visitor and tourist information. Finally, the recent news section of this site has information about new town plans and initiatives.
