Get rid of old computers and other electronic items at Shelter Island Recycling Center
All E- waste will be accepted
at the hazmat area in the recycling center.
There will be a specific drop off container for all electronics to be placed in. This will be located at the Recycling Center near the hazmat drop off. Please follow the signage and the directions.
This will be an on going drop off area throughout the year.

We will be having a program the first Saturday of Every Month. Look for details in the paper.

Bring all non-commerical hazardous homeowner wastes-including paints, thinners, oils, batteries, flourescent light bulbs,photographic chemicals, pesticides etc.
The following items will be accepted in this area:
Please bring all electronics
computers, hardrives, pc’s , laptops, monitors, keyboards, printers, fax machines, vcr’s, dvd players, gaming systems, radios, televisions, copiers, stereos, telephones and cell phones. Office equipment such as answering machines, calculators or adding machines. NO Commerical Waste.
There is a fee for junk vehicles - please drain gas and oil from the vehicle. Please do not leave anything in the car such as garbage. Do not break the glass. You must have a title when you drop off the car. The fee may be waived during certain times of the year. This depends of the market, please inquire at the scale house.
Fees for the following items
Construction and Demolition Debris - $.10 per pound
Furniture - NOW-$.10per pound
Household garbage waste must be in a Yellow Town Bag
You may purchase bags at the following locations:
If you do not want to use the town bags wet garbage must be in a bag and you can go on the scale. $.10 per pound.
Brush and stumps are $.15 per pound
WOOD CHIPS-NOW $.02 CENTS PER POUND.
Dropping off Leaves are FREE
Household Hazzardous Waste Fees for the following:
Auto Batteries - $5 per item -Propane Tanks - $5 per item, Freon items - $15 per item
