Congressman Zeldin’s office has been contacted by the FAA regarding a planned forum on the helicopter noise issue that impacts both the North and South Forks of eastern Long Island. Please pass along the following information to as many constituents as possible so they can attend, obtain information, and make their concerns known to FAA officials.
The FAA has set their meeting for Wednesday, November 14, from 7-9pm, at Riverhead Middle School, 600 Harrison Avenue, Riverhead, NY. The agency will publish the meeting information twice in the Federal Register – once will open the public comment period on the North Shore Helicopter Route, the second will announce this public meeting as well as two others in Garden City and Flushing on November 13 and November 15, respectively. The FAA also plans to alert local press and publicize their meeting through social media.
The FAA meeting will use a workshop format and the agency will have several stations covering a number of relevant aspects of the North Shore Helicopter Rule. Each station will be staffed by an FAA subject matter expert who is able to answer questions regarding the topic, and there will be a station where the public can submit a written statement for the record. The FAA also is trying to arrange to have oral comments transcribed as well. The FAA does not plan to make any formal presentations during this workshop.
Please remember that this meeting in Riverhead is being hosted by the FAA and that the agency has set the format for this meeting. Thank you.
